Dressage

Welcome to Bolton & District Riding Club’s 2019 season, as ever it seems no time at all since we were packing the white boards away at the end of last season, and here we are once again, inching our way towards lighter nights, warmer, drier weather (we hope!!), and a new outdoor season.

This year the tests will run slightly differently and on a slightly different day of the month.  The dressage will now generally be on the 4th Saturday of the Month, the day before the main show.  Dressage will start in April.

The tests will be once again split into two arenas, with the both Intros and a Prelim in the first arena and Prelim, Novice and Elementary in the second arena.

This year we will run the classes as New and Open level classes in a similar way to British Dressage Bronze and Silver.  The below shows the entry eligibility for each class.  All classes are open to members and non-members.

  • Intro New – Open to horses and riders who have not competed previously at Prelim and do not have any BD points at Prelim Level.
  • Intro Open – Open to horses and riders who have not competed previously at Novice and do not have any BD points at Novice Level.
  • Prelim New – Open to horses and riders who have not competed previously at Novice and do not have any BD points at Novice Level.
  • Prelim Open – Open to horses and riders who have not competed at Elementary or and do not have BD points at Elementary Level.
  • Novice New – Open to horses and riders who do not have BD points at Medium Level.
  • Novice Open – Open to horses and riders who do not have BD points at Medium Level.
  • Elementary – Open to horses and riders who do not have any BD points at Medium Level.

Competitors may compete at two adjacent levels, as long as the above rules are followed.

Horses & riders that are eligible to enter a class at the start of the season may continue to enter it throughout the season.
